Meet our bloggers – Emily & Nicci

Hi everyone, my name is Emily Koltai, but most people call me Em. I am 24 years old, and I have a physical disability which is called Familial Dysautonomia, a rare genetic condition that affects my sympathetic nervous system. I have never let my disability define me. In the last few years, I completed a Bachelor of Communications majoring in social and digital media at UTS, a diploma in digital marketing and now currently working for two jobs focusing on the disability sector. I have also worked at the Sydney Film Festival helping with the social media content. One of the challenges of my disorder is the difficulties with feeding. I have overcome these difficulties and now food is my passion. I enjoy food in every way. I love dining out and sharing my experiences on my food blog (Emily’s Eat’s and Treats). This helps develop my writing, cooking, and photography skills. I am so excited to be involved with The Choice Foundation by becoming part of the blog team.

Hi, I’m Nicci Schwartz and I’m currently studying a computer science/law degree at UNSW. In my spare time, I love baking and I’ve also recently got back into playing tennis after I hadn’t played in 7 years (just missed out on the Australian Open but maybe next year!)

I’m super excited to be working on this blog with Em. I hope it will become a really valuable resource for everyone in the community to learn more about the disability space, what opportunities and support is available and what events are happening.
